2010 — A physiotherapy practice
Link Medical Interface begins as a clinical practice in Lahore, treating musculoskeletal and neurological patients. For a decade, that is what it is. Everything since grew from what we could not do from a treatment room.
2021 — The first journal
Local research had nowhere credible to go. The choice facing a Pakistani physiotherapist with a decent study was a predatory journal that would take her money, or an international journal that would reject her without explanation. JHRR is founded — biannual at first, and small.
2023 — Specialisation
JHWCR launches, for public and community health. JSLA launches for speech, language, and audiology — a field with a serious clinical literature and, in this region, nowhere at all to publish it. Speech-language pathologists in Pakistan had been sending work to general medical journals and having it reviewed by people who did not know the field.
2023–24 — Infrastructure
DOI registration through Crossref. ISSN registration. OJS platforms for each journal on its own domain. Preservation through the PKP Preservation Network. The unglamorous plumbing that determines whether a published article is findable in ten years or has simply vanished.
2024 — LMJHCR, and DOAJ
LMJHCR launches, focused on resource-limited settings. It is subsequently accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals following independent international assessment — the first journal in the portfolio to be listed.
2025 — Scale and cadence
JHRR moves to monthly publication. JHWCR moves to biweekly. JPMHR launches under BMU Ventures.
2026 — Governance
The complete publishing policy framework is consolidated and applied identically across every journal. The Institutional Review Board is constituted, with a chair and a majority of members independent of the company, including members who are not scientists and hold no affiliation with us. Our own research now goes before a board we cannot influence, chaired by someone we do not employ. That was the point.
