Maryam Shabbir heads the University Institute of Physical Therapy at The University of Lahore.
Research ethics. As Research and Ethics Officer, she coordinates research-ethics processes across the organisation — guiding investigators through applications, consent documentation, participant information, and data protection planning, and interfacing with the Institutional Review Board on their behalf.
Communications and development. She leads ORIC’s partnerships, institutional linkage, and research communication.

On the Institutional Review Board. Her role as Research and Ethics Officer is administrative: she helps investigators prepare submissions and coordinates the process. She does not sit on the Board, does not vote, and takes no part in its decisions. As a director of this company and an active investigator, she is barred from doing so. The distinction is deliberate. The person who helps a researcher prepare an application is not the person who decides it.
