About

Link Medical Interface works across health research, scholarly publishing, professional education, clinical practice, and community health. We are based in Lahore, registered in Pakistan, and most of what we publish, teach, and treat comes from this region and returns to it. We began in 2010 as a physiotherapy practice. Everything else grew from problems we ran into while doing that work.

What we do

LMI Publishers — peer-reviewed, open-access journals in health, medicine, rehabilitation, and communication sciences, under a single policy framework. One is indexed in DOAJ.

ORIC — a research office of the kind a university would have, made available to clinicians and researchers who do not have one.

Education and Innovation — continuing professional development, workshops, research training, and conferences.

Link Medical Centre — clinical and rehabilitation services. Where we started.

Link Community Services — health education, screening, and outreach.

Media — research communication and patient education.

Why an organisation like this exists

The gap we work in is not talent, and it is not data. It is infrastructure. A clinician in a Lahore hospital has a good question and a full ward. She has no methodologist to call, no ethics committee to submit to, nobody to check her sample size before she collects data rather than after. If she gets the study done, she then meets a peer review process nobody has explained to her, in journals that either charge her before they have read her paper or reject her without saying why. So the study does not happen. Or it happens badly. Or it happens well and is never published.

Every division here exists because we hit one of those walls ourselves and built the thing that was missing. We are not filling gaps in the market. We are filling gaps in the infrastructure, and we happen to have built a business around it.

What we hold ourselves to

Editorial decisions come before invoices. No fee is requested or accepted at submission. A publication fee falls due only after a manuscript has already been accepted on scholarly grounds. There is no priority handling, no fast track, and no sum of money that buys either.

Authors keep their copyright. We take a non-exclusive licence to publish. We do not ask anyone to sign their work over to us.

We do not claim what we do not hold. Where a journal holds a recognition, we name it and date it. Where it does not, we say so. A lapsed recognition presented in the present tense is a false statement.

Our review board can refuse us. No director, shareholder, or officer of this company may sit on the Institutional Review Board, vote on it, or overturn its decisions. Our own protocols go before it and we have no say in the outcome.

Two companies

Link Medical Interface (Private) Limited and BMU Ventures (Private) Limited are separate legal entities under common ownership and leadership, both registered in Pakistan and operating from the same Lahore address. Link Medical Interface publishes JHRR, JHWCR, LMJHCR, and JSLA, and operates the clinic, ORIC, education, and community services. BMU Ventures publishes JPMHR. On every journal page, we name the publisher. See the BMU Ventures disclosure.
